Crickets

Cricket removal - get rid of cricketsWhat are crickets?

Crickets in North Carolina and Virginia are similar to grasshoppers and katydids but can be distinguished by the way they carry their wings folded over their body.  Adult males are the chirpers or singers. They do so by rubbing their wings together. Young crickets and females can’t chirp.

Depending on the species, sizes range from 1.25″  to 2″.

Apart from being annoying with their constant chirping, crickets can damage clothes and other materials, textiles or plants and shrubs.

Common types of cricket include:

  • House crickets
  • Field crickets
  • Tree crickets
  • Ground crickets
  • Camel crickets
  • Jerusalem crickets
  • Mole crickets

  • Move any bricks, lumber or firewood that is stored near the structure.
