What Are Midges?
Midges are small, mosquito-like insects that thrive in moist environments—perfectly suited to our coastal climate. There are two main types:
Biting midges (a.k.a. no-see-ums): These tiny pests pack a punch with their itchy bites.
Non-biting midges: These swarm in large numbers but don’t bite. Still, they can be a serious nuisance, especially around lights, doors, and windows.
They’re most active in the early morning and evening, especially during warmer months when humidity is high.
